Sometimes it’s good to be last

The final reflection from me this week in the A Word in Time studies on the Methodist website comes to the moment when the boy David is anointed for kingship.

The story is at 1 Samuel 16:10-13 and Samuel looks at all of Jesse’s sons in a sort of precursor to the dreaded school playground team picks when someone’s going to be last – but for David that’s a good thing, especially as he’s not even there when the process begins!
